Sweet puffs

by YC

On a rainy day anything could happen! With my never-ending sweet tooth, I decided to whip out a can of biscuits, but instead of the obvious, turn the dough into a sweet treat! At first, I was going for an easy Beignet – at first – but once the dough hit the hot oil, it took a life of it’s own.  I simply call these, “Sweet Puffs!”

First, take a rolling pin and flatten the biscuits

Next, form the dough into a ball (NOTE: it doesn't have to be perfectly round)

From the large ball, pinch dough to form smaller balls

Carefully place dough into a hot oil skillet until dough turns golden brown on both sides (This is also when I accepted the fact that the Beignets were non-existing!)!

Once completed, transfer puffs onto a plate lined with a paper towel to drain excess oil.  Then place the puffs into a paper bag with powdered sugar and cinnamon, and shake until well coated.  Place on a serving dish and serve with chocolate syrup!
