Growing up as a child, I was obsessed with anything with
sugar in it! Perhaps it started when being introduced to Hansel and
Gretel, whom in the book, stumbled
upon a real life gingerbread house.
Although it turned out to be a bit traumatic for the duo, and probably the worst day of their lives, reading about the description of the house and all of its sweet detail was indeed satisfying.
Then it was the
movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate
Factory that heightened my sweet tooth. I searched every Butterfinger (my favorite candy bar) in
hopes of finding the Golden Ticket like Charlie did! Instead, it came in an evite years later. My presence may not have been requested at Wonka’s place,
but instead for the unveiling of Polish & Co’s latest trendy nail
polishes at their Polish and CupTails
Party.
Polish & Co started in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is
the brainchild of Theresa Williamson, a savvy business owner and entrepreneur. With an established men and women's clothing boutique called Hints Downtown,
and a high-end nail salon - providing service for over 20 years - adding creator of the nail lacquer to her resume has stroked the interest of many, from fashion and beauty insiders to the everyday woman (and man, if you will). It’s safe to say that
she’s an expert.
Back to the party. The evening started out with tunes from Jay-Z, and Drake filling the room, as partygoers beheld the latest polishes of
the luxurious 27-color collection, while sipping on Strawberry Mojitos. Then to our delight, the center table
“Wonkaed” us with vanilla cupcakes by Sweet C’s Bakery, and all the childhood
candies that you could imagine; Blow Pops, Gum Balls, Tootsie Rolls, Candy
Straw, and much more! Are you salivating yet?
Lines formed as guests eagerly made their way to purchase their own favorite(s). And after debating on which color I would try for the first
time, my heart was sold on “Mint To Tell U”! The moniker was perfect for the greenish-blue hue that goes on
smooth, long lasting, and most importantly, compliments my skin tone.
At the end of the night as the crowd thinned out, and my
candy factory fantasy was coming to an end, it immediately hit me that Polish
& Co. is more than just a polish; it’s a sweet innovation.
Owner, Theresa Williamson took time to pose in a picture with me |
